    Bottles for Books

Under the leadership of Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) Program's Blanca Casaubon, PHN II, the Bottles for Books program was started in January 2009 with two goals in mind ~ to help protect the environment and generate income for RORSD to support their efforts to promote early literacy.

Blanca installed recycling bins in the office to collect plastic bottles, aluminum cans and glass bottles that would otherwise be tossed into trash cans and end up in landfills. Recycled materials are then taken to a certified recycling center for redemption. Money generated from the Maternal Child and Family Health Services Branch is donated to the local chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics for the Reach Out and Read program.

    Nordson Foundation Funds RORSD

Thank you to the Nordson Foundation for their generous contribution to RORSD. These funds will go to buy books for Reach Out and Read programs in North San Diego County. Generous contributions such as this are critical to our success and ensure the quality and availability of books.
