| Need a Tax Deductible Donation? |
|
The AAP-CA3, a non-profit 501(c)3 is able to accept book money for sites and provide a tax deductible receipt. Sites that do not have this non-profit status can have donors send a check to the AAP- CA3 indicating that this money should be set aside for a particular site. After purchasing books sites can send us an invoice which we will deduct from their account. Or sites can participate in bulk book buying with the collaborative and use the money in their account. There is no charge to sites for this service.

| The American Academy of Pediatrics, CA Chapter 3 (AAP-CA3), under the leadership of Chapter President Donald Miller, Executive Director Meredith Kennedy, Associate Director Tara Milbrand, and ROR Champions within the Chapter, is the organizing agency for a coordinated Reach Out and Read effort in San Diego County. |

All RIF Shipments Have Been Delivered for the Year!
Attention all RIF sites. The final RIF shipments, for the
year, from
Star Bright Books, Houghton Mifflin, Harcourt
Publishers, and Books 4 School have all been
delivered. If you did not receive one of these
shipments please contact Tara Milbrand at tmilbrand@aapc
a3.org right away! She will be out on maternity
leave from November 5th through January 4th.
Please note that these books are
intended
for 6 mos. old to 2 year old children at their well-child
visit and should last through the end of January.
The
number of books each site received was determined
by the numbers submitted in the latest ROR
progress report.
A new year of RIF funding will begin in February. We
are hopeful that we will be able to at least continue at
our current funding level, with RIF, and possibly
increase next year to include new sites.
We are very grateful to RIF for this generous grant and
to
the First 5 Commission of San Diego for the matching
funds to allow us to bring quality books to all our 6
month to 2 year old children.

representing the "school readiness" topics that
pediatricians discuss with parents such as: books,
toothbrushes, floss, outdoor activities, stickers,
coloring books and crayons.
In addition to Congresswoman Davis, speakers

San Diego County Employees Charitable Organization (CECO) Funds RORSD!
Thank you to CECO for their generous donation of
$8,500 to buy books for underpriviledged children in
San Diego!
CECO stands for County Employees Charitable
Organization, an employee-managed organization that
gives 100 percent of the money it collects to local non-
profit agencies. CECO has no paid staff. All members
volunteer their own time or get release time during
working hours. Since its founding in 1956, County
employees have distributed millions of dollars in the
San Diego community through this grassroots
program. Donations are driven by automatic payroll
deductions and one-time contributions by County and
Superior Court employees. The donations provide
local agencies with grants that help them to serve
more people or expand and improve their existing
services.
Thank you to CECO. Their
generous donation truly makes a difference enabling
RORSD to purchase at least
3,000 books for children in need in the next year.
