HDS Update

HDS Newsletter: May 2008 | April 2008 | March 2008

The American Academy of Pediatrics California Chapter Three provides countywide coordination and support to The First Five Commission of San Diego's Health and Development Services (HDS) project. This project provides health-oriented services to children ages 0-5 living in San Diego County, including:

  • Newborn home visit checkups for new parents
  • Developmental screening, assessment, and treatment
  • Speech and Language services
  • Parent Support and Empowerment through classes and information
  • Behavioral Services
  • Health and Behavioral Consultant Services for daycare providers
  • Home visiting services for at-risk families
  • Vision and hearing screening, assessment and treatment services

These services are targeted towards children with mild to moderate needs with the intent of providing help for children who otherwise would not receive the care that they need.
